It may not seem like much, but the latest from the Weather Channel, as reported by the New York Times, is that global warming exists.
The times quotes VP of program strategy and development, Kaye Zusmann, as saying, “If the Weather Channel isn’t talking about climate change and global warming, who is?” Zusmann goes on to say that it is their mandate.
I am highly encouraged by the Weather Channel’s seeming enthusiasm to tackle this issue. If the American populace is not going to take the word of the scientific community and accept global warming as both a fact and responsibility, then perhaps the encouragement of a cable network might help the reluctant come around.
