It looks like today will be a day of photography posts.

Eddie just sent me a link to a presentation by a group called Siggraph that is developing technology that allows images to resize in a fluid and con (text/tent) relevant manner; similar to the way a dynamic Web page adjusts to the size of your browser. This technology is still in development and I have little more to add to the discussion than ‘cool’, so check out the video here.

On his way out of the office yesterday, Carl sent me a link to an excellent video about how to make a ‘bendable tripod.’ Similar, to Joby’s Gorillapod, but insanely less expensive, this flexible little tripod can mount a camera to almost any surface, making it extremely useful in the field. Come October I plan to build one of two of these pods for use with my Spotmatic and Holga.

David has been living in Japan for the past few months, visiting my friend and his fiancee who is currently teaching English in Gotsu. He has been driving on the left side of the road, enjoying eel and squid, serving as a guinea pig in the classroom, and taking lots of pictures; all of which can be seen on his Flickr page / impromptu photo-blog: djgoldberg’s photos.

Dave’s favorite place in Japan, thus far, is Kyoto. Though this is likely to change as he and Ashley are currently visiting the magical island of Yakushima. The following picture, of a ‘little jellyfish’, was taken at the the Shimane Aquarium. While many of Dave’s photos are excellent, I chose this one as its pair was incorporated into this blog’s header.

My friend Mike moved to Korea a few months ago to teach English. He lives in Daegu and seems to be adapting well. He has girlfriend, a scooter, and at my urging, a photo-blog. All of those things can be seen here: Low Down Dirty Daegu (My Korean Sojourn).

Recently, he visited the DMZ that separates the north country from the south. Pretty serious stuff, when you think about it. Except that, apparently, the de-militarized zone is lined with stores and amusement parks.
