My friend, Rafi, works for the totally cool Global Kids. GK is “is committed to transforming urban youth into successful students as well as global and community leaders.” Rafi is a member of the Online Leadership Program, the digital branch of GK. Aside from running really cool projects like the now-defunct NewzCrew (which I also worked on), hosting summer camps on Second Life, creating video games with inner city youth, and a whole lot more.
Rafi recently added guest lecture to his bag of tricks with his recent talk at MIT’s Teaching and Learning in a Media Saturated World conference. In his talk he discussed the ways that he was using virtual worlds to help his students develop real world skills. If you have a half hour I highly encourage you to check it out… its pretty cool.
You can watch it here.
